Kacie Shields - Varsity Head Coach
Coach Shields will begin her first year this year as the Lady Dragons Head Varsity Softball Coach. Coach Shields comes from Lanier High School where she was the Varsity assistant coach for one year. She was previously at Johnson High School where she was the head softball coach for two years. Coach Shields has also been active coaching All Star teams out of Mill Creek Park as well as a 10U travel team, Team Boombah. She currently helps coach the 12U Atlanta Premier "A" travel softball team. Coach Shields graduated from Brookwood High School where she played both softball and basketball. She then went to Young Harris College and competed as the starting shortstop and earned her Associate’s Degree in Education. After Young Harris, Coach Shields transferred to the University of Georgia and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education. She recently finished her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and will be teaching Physical Education this year at Jefferson. |

Stacey ThomasVarsity Assistant
Coach Thomas is in her 8th year of teaching
special education. This is her 7th year at Jefferson and her 5th
year coaching softball. She took two years off from coaching to get her
Master’s Degree in special education from Piedmont College. Coach Thomas graduated
from Jefferson in 2001 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Kineisology from
Emmanuel College in 2006. She also
played 4 years of collegiate softball at Emmanuel college where she played in
the outfield.
Coach Thomas is currently teaching 1st grade at Jefferson Elementary school. She has a 4 year old son named Hayden who is starting Pre-K this year. |
Katie Garner
Middle School Head Coach
This is Coach Garner’s first year in the Jefferson City School System. She has previously been in the Gainesville City School System where she taught for four years and was the Assistant Varsity Softball Coach for one year. She is now a fifth grade teacher at the Jefferson Academy.
Coach Garner is a 2007 graduate of Jefferson High School and a lifetime resident of the community. She attended North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, GA where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Special Education in 2011. She received her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Brenau University in 2014. Coach Garner has been married to her husband, Stanley Garner, for almost four years. They reside in the Jefferson area. |
Dawn KinlawMiddle School Assistant
Dawn Kinlaw is in her 4th year coaching softball at Jefferson. She has been teaching at Jefferson for 10 years. She taught and coached at Lanier Middle school and Jones Middle school in Gwinnett County for 10 years. She coaches softball and basketball at the middle school level. Coach Kinlaw graduated from North Gwinnett High school. She graduated college with her undergraduate degree from North Georgia University. She also attained her Masters degree from Brenau University in Middle grades mathematics. She currently teaches 7th grade math at Jefferson Middle School. She is married to Mike Kinlaw, of Alta Vista, Virginia. They have 2 daughters, Ellie(12) and Abbie(7). |
